Mr. Scott McCauley

John Nicholas Brekel, Jr. was born April 7, 1959. He graduated from East Chambers High School in 1977 and enlisted in the Marine Corps after high school. He served six years and was honorably discharged. Mr. Brekel flew ultra-light aircrafts and went on to receive his pilot license. He was hired by Helena Laboratories where he worked from 1980-1996 retiring as a Supervisor. He worked at Southern Avionics Company from 1996 until 1999. Mr. Brekel received his Associate of Applied Science in Instrumentation Technology from Lamar Institute of Technology while employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He then completed his B.S. in Industrial Technology from Lamar University. Mr. Brekel was an Instrument Supervisor for ExxonMobil and a Master Mason with Sour Lake Lodge #1002. He was fond of and particularly dedicated to Lamar Institute of Technology students. He died May 5, 2012.
